Convergence of open in the bioeconomy: a new future post-COVID
COVID-19 has brought the power of biotechnology to the world stage: from PCR tests to vaccines, billions of people have seen its direct impact in their lives. However, COVID also highlighted the broken supply chains, inequitable access to technology and lack of inclusive designs that mean fewer people benefit from these technologies that are shaping our lives and futures. In this panel, a diverse group of open scientists will discuss what has changed in open biotech in the last two years, the triumphs, failures, awakenings and missed opportunities. We'll also look to the future of the bioeconomy and how a convergence of open technologies, open governance and open data could make that future more equitable and sustainable for both people and the planet.
